Passwords

  1. Secure passwords should be at least 12 characters long, lower case, upper case, numbers, and special characters included. Note this is now required by many sites/logins.
  2. Don’t use a 12 character word that you can find in a dictionary, birth dates or addresses.
  3. If you need a way to create secure passwords use passwordsgenerator.net
  4. Use a physical notebook to write down your passwords. OR Sign up for a free password manager like bitWarden . A good paid one is NordPass. For an offline option (I use this) use KeePass .
  5. NEVER save passwords in the browser or google.
  6. Use 2FA (Two factor authentication..send a text code to your phone) for any very secure logins such as online banking. You will need to set this up in the account/website after logging on.
  7. A good video from a security tech expert I follow on you tube. https://youtu.be/3-0d1DVmiYY?si=g6AMZVdoMK8PUn7Q
